Al-Qalaa Al-Jadida Private University Hosts a Breast Cancer Awareness Workshop in Cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
As part of the activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), and within the framework of its commitment to community service, Al-Qalaa Al-Jadida Private University for Medical and Applied Sciences hosted an awareness workshop on Sunday, October 19, titled:
“The Importance of Early Detection of Breast Cancer and Its Symptoms.”
The event was held in collaboration with a specialized team of physicians and comes within the National Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign supervised by the Libyan Union for Cancer Control. The workshop aimed to raise health awareness among female students and faculty members about the importance of early screening and methods of prevention.
The workshop opened with a welcoming speech from the university administration, which reaffirmed Al-Qalaa Al-Jadida University’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with local community institutions—especially in health-related issues that directly affect human life and public well-being. The administration emphasized that community service represents one of the university’s core missions.
The session presented, in a simple scientific manner, the importance of early detection, initial symptoms and indicators, and the factors that may increase the risk of breast cancer. Presenters also offered a practical demonstration of breast self-examination techniques and reviewed the latest diagnostic technologies such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, in an engaging and interactive environment.
The workshop concluded with the university administration reaffirming its commitment to ongoing collaboration with civil society organizations and the private healthcare sector to promote awareness and strengthen a culture of prevention and community health.
